Khizr Khan, the Gold Star father of a fallen Army Captain, captured the hearts of the nation when he asked Donald Trump in a speech at the Democratic National Convention if Trump had even read the United States Constitution. Now he has vowed to do all in his power to help Democrats "walk us out of this dark chapter that is being written."

Khizr Khan was invited to speak at a public forum on Donald Trump’s Muslim ban executive order, hosted by the U.S. House Judiciary Committee.

Rather than “explaining the atrocities” of the first days of Trump’s presidency “inflicted on my country and my nation,” Khan fervently implored House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democrats in Congress to stop Trump by working relentlessly to gain control of Congress:

You know the atrocities of these ten days that have been inflicted on my country and on my nation. My nation and my country remains alienated not within but throughout the country. I want to make, instead of explaining what atrocities — other members, witnesses will explain that — but I want to emphasize on the call of duty for all of the patriots.

Leader Pelosi, this time has chosen all of you, and you especially, to lead this nation, to lead this country. The only solution to these atrocities is to gain control of the Congress. That is where lies the solution. I will walk barefoot to every district that you will send me. People are ready. I have traveled to 83 communities throughout the country. People have asked me, ‘What is the solution? What do you want us to do? We are ready to step forward.’

Look at the protests that are taking place. Majority of this nation is ready, with all of their resources. They’re knocking at the doors of those who stand with this administration, objecting to their standing with this administration. History has given all of these patriots an opportunity to stand for the values, to vindicate this nation, to stand with the values of this country and to walk us out of this dark chapter that is being written.

Nancy Pelosi accepted Khan’s challenge to fight and resist, and to win back Congress in 2018.

Patriots like Khan will hold her to it.
