Hillary Clinton absolutely crushed Trump in polls conducted after all three of the 2016 presidential debates.
Trump lost every presidential debate he had with Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election — a fact he accidentally reminded Americans of on Tuesday by lying about it.
"As most people are aware, according to the Polls, I won EVERY debate, including the three with Crooked Hillary Clinton, despite the fact that in the first debate, they modulated the sound on me, and got caught," Trump ranted in a tweet.
Like most of his claims, this is untrue. In all three presidential debates, voters polled on the results said Clinton won the debate — by a lot.
"Hillary Clinton was deemed the winner of Monday night's debate by 62% of voters who tuned in to watch, while just 27% said they thought Donald Trump had the better night," CNN reported after the first debate.
Things went so badly for Trump in that debate that his campaign circulated phony results from unscientific online polls to claim that he had won.
Trump also lost to Clinton in polling on the Oct. 4, 2016 debate.
"Hillary Clinton won the second presidential debate, according to 44 percent of likely voters who watched or followed coverage of the face-off," NBC reported.
After the third debate, held Oct. 14, 2016, Clinton won again.
"According to YouGov's post-debate poll, which interviewed 1503 registered voters who watched the debate, Hillary Clinton won the debate against Donald Trump by 49% to 39%," YouGov noted.
A CNN poll also showed a decisive victory for Clinton after that debate, with 52% saying she had won, compared to 39% for Trump.
Trump may be attempting to rewrite history because he's nervous about the 2020 election, where polling already shows he is behind all of the major Democratic contenders.
Trump's pattern of behavior is clear: Lose, lose, lose — and then lie and say he won anyway.
