Republicans in the Senate are holding a sham hearing — and women are shaming them for it.

A group of women descended on the Senate Thursday to protest the Republicans’s sham hearing on Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Despite allegations from three women, and multiple potential witnesses, Republicans have refused to conduct a thorough investigation or allow all witnesses to testify — all to rush through Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

As the hearing began, hundreds of women appeared at the Hart and Dirksen Senate office buildings in Washington, D.C., to protest the GOP’s behavior and to call attention to the party’s defense of Trump’s handpicked nominee.

“We believe Christine Ford, we believe Anita Hill,” women chanted as they walked into the building.

Many of them wore shirts that said, “I am a survivor and I vote.” They also had messages written on their hands that said, “No Vote.”

Others had their mouths covered by tape, their hands raised in defiance as they silently protested the proceedings on the floor of the Dirksen building.

Support for Kavanaugh, especially among women, has never been strong — and it has completely tanked in the wake of all these allegations.

As the GOP has engaged in a flawed and dishonest process designed to cater to Trump and the right wing, women are standing up to expose the party’s cynical behavior and doing so in large numbers.
